Friedrich Stowasser who called himself Hundertwasser was an Austrian artist. Born in Vienna on December 15th 1928, he was principally an architect, but also concerned himself with painting, philosophy and conservationism. His style combined African and Asian influences, as well as his own personal theories regarding geometric shapes and straight lines. He died at sea en route New Zealand, where he spent much of his later life. He was buried in his personal plot beneath a tulip free, in the Garden of the Happy Dead, in harmony with nature.
